Graham Crackers

28 Oct

Print the recipe card!  graham crackers

Are you looking for something 100% whole wheat that your kids will love?  Graham crackers will do it!  This recipe was shared (and loved) by my friend Sherida, if you haven’t swung over to her blog yet you can find it here.  Feel free to half this giant recipe (it’s actually a double recipe anyway) — when I make these I like to make a lot!  They go into our snack cupboard and through the week it’s great hearing my kids request something for snacking that’s 100% whole wheat (shhh…don’t tell!).

Bayou Chicken Pasta

Print the recipe card!  bayou chicken pasta

Oh, you’re going to love this one!  This is my food storage version of Emeril’s “Bayou Chicken Pasta” (original recipe found here).   It’s fabulous!!  The flavors in it are wonderful.  Think of it as linguine alfredo with a “kick”!

Hungarian Goulash with Spaetzle

Print the recipe page!  hungarian goulash with spaetzle

I’m going to Europe with this dish — who’s going with me?!  Hungarian Goulash is very different from American Goulash.  We love it and lucky for us it adapts to being a food storage meal without any trouble!

Spaetzle — a German dumpling-like noodle — is a lot of fun to make, especially with kids!  It’s something different on the table but yet it goes with all kinds of things.   This noodle recipe is brought to us courtesy of Shari Haag’s book “The Everyday Gourmet”.

Pairing these two together makes for a good hearty meal!  Guten appetit!

Dulce de Leche Brownies

Print the recipe card!  dulce de leche brownies

A friend shared these brownies with me — they were so good that I asked for the recipe.  I changed it up to include whole egg powder rather than fresh eggs and now it’s something I can use in my long term plan anytime I have leftover canned butter!  Can you imagine how amazing it would be to serve these brownies if you only had your food storage to eat?! Crab and Ricotta Cannelloni

Print the recipe page!  crab and ricotta cannelloni

You won’t believe this is 100% food storage when you taste it!

This meal *tastes* restaurant worthy but anyone can make it.  You might be tempted to skip making the cannelloni and substitute a boxed pasta from the store but don’t do it!   It’s the wonderful texture of the crepe-like cannelloni that makes this main dish so ‘melt in your mouth’ good!  This “noodle” recipe (although really more a crepe than a noodle) comes again from one of my favorite food storage recipe books “The Everyday Gourmet” by Shari Haag.  The crab filling and Bechamel sauce were launched from a recipe I found of Giada De Laurentis’.

Print the recipe card!  granola

This is my good friend Angie’s recipe ~  I love it!  It’s measurements are so easy to remember and it makes a good amount of granola for snacks or breakfast.  Plus, your kids will never suspect the healthy extras you sneak into it … wheat germ, flax seed, seeds or dried fruit of any kind.  It always turns out great!
